There has been this huge shift over the years for women to be men. We must be as strong as them, as educated, as hard working and as unemotional. I am not denying that women have every right to be those things and I am not saying that we are not already in possession of these qualities, but my hope is that women everywhere will begin to embrace their own feminine uniqueness. I wish that we would lay aside the judgments of working moms versus stay at home moms versus not moms and come to a consensus, as women. An acknowledgment that we all possess a unique set of skills owned only by us. There is power in knowing that you can drive another human crazy with your softness. There is power in knowing that you can make a feast out of mere crumbles. That you can quite the cries of a baby and sing to them until they fall asleep. That at any given moment you know where everything in your house is. That you can fix a scraped knee with a simple kiss. That we have very strong instincts and when we follow them, they are usually right. That we can juggle millions of things at once yet give each the attention that it needs. That we know how to observe situations for their validity. That we can catch our child before they fall and then lend them a shoulder to make everything better.
We are unique and through embracing that uniqueness, you will find your personal power. We can no longer insist on “being like” or try to “keep up” with men. We must realize that we don’t need to. When you are constantly trying to be something else, you will inevitably fail to remember why you were important in the first place. Inside each one of us is a Goddess waiting to burst out and claim her power in the World. We must no longer stifle her ambitions by insisting that she behave like a man. Reclaim your femininity and the Goddess will be set free.
Once she is set free you will be able to see how misguided the World is towards women. The World is currently set up to make us believe certain things about ourselves. Pop culture paints an unrealistic picture of what a women should look like, yet we try to achieve these unrealistic standards. Politics would have you believe that we are stupid, that we are not even capable of deciding what is best for our bodies. Politicians will have you believe that men need to take over our decision making and legislate for us what we can and can’t do with the female body. Popular songs will have you believe that you are nothing but booty and boobs. It would have you believe that you can only get a man by being a thing which they can grab at, talk to as they please and that your main purpose is to be around for a their enjoyment.
We must shed these popular views. We must differentiate between true femininity and what the World has define as femininity. Once you do that, you will see that what the world thinks we should be and who we truly are, are not the same person. Women are so much more than what they would have us be. We have to break open this glass ceiling and yell from every peak that we will no longer be crammed into a box with society’s expectations of us. We will no longer perpetuate this cycle of women being objects. We will educate our sons and most definitely our daughters, by teaching them that a woman is a blessed thing to be. We will embrace that we are human, uniquely feminine, powerful, strong, educated, and emotional beings. We will find additional strength in knowing that we could be like a man if we wanted to be but we will no longer have the desire to fulfill that wish. We will no longer settle on being anything less than the Goddess Women that we were always meant to be.
We must find solidarity in our collective struggles and in our collective regaining of our power. We must stand united, instead of in judgment of each other. We must realize that we share each others' successes and failures. We must realize that we have to be each others' friends instead of enemies. We must be spokeswomen instead of doubters and know that inside each and every woman is a light, a power, and a Goddess ready to emerge. She will be there waiting until the day that you stop buying in to the Worlds expectations of you and embrace your feminine uniqueness. It is then that the Goddess will be set free. It is then that you will feel the power inside of you and you will once again be proud to be a women.
